Surah Al-A’la (The Most High) — Arabic text & English translation

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ۝١

1. Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High,

87:1Full tafsirAsk the chat

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ۝٢

2. Who createth, then disposeth;

87:2Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ۝٣

3. Who measureth, then guideth;

87:3Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ۝٤

4. Who bringeth forth the pasturage,

87:4Full tafsirAsk the chat

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ۝٥

5. Then turneth it to russet stubble.

87:5Full tafsirAsk the chat

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ۝٦

6. We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget

87:6Full tafsirAsk the chat

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ۝٧

7. Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden;

87:7Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ۝٨

8. And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease.

87:8Full tafsirAsk the chat

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ۝٩

9. Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder.

87:9Full tafsirAsk the chat

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ۝١٠

10. He will heed who feareth,

87:10Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى ۝١١

11. But the most hapless will flout it,

87:11Full tafsirAsk the chat

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ۝١٢

12. He who will be flung to the great Fire

87:12Full tafsirAsk the chat

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ۝١٣

13. Wherein he will neither die nor live.

87:13Full tafsirAsk the chat

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ۝١٤

14. He is successful who groweth,

87:14Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ ۝١٥

15. And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth,

87:15Full tafsirAsk the chat

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۝١٦

16. But ye prefer the life of the world

87:16Full tafsirAsk the chat

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۝١٧

17. Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

87:17Full tafsirAsk the chat

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۝١٨

18. Lo! This is in the former scrolls.

87:18Full tafsirAsk the chat

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ۝١٩

19. The Books of Abraham and Moses.
