Surah Al-Inshiqaq (The Sundering) — Arabic text & English translation
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ ٤
4. And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ ٦
6. Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ٧
7. Then whoso is given his account in his right hand
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا ٨
8. He truly will receive an easy reckoning
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ٩
9. And will return unto his folk in joy.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ ١٠
10. But whoso is given his account behind his back,
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ١٣
13. He verily lived joyous with his folk,
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ١٤
14. He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا ١٥
15. Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ١٦
16. Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ١٧
17. And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ١٨
18. And by the moon when she is at the full,
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ ١٩
19. That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٢٠
20. What aileth them, then, that they believe not
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩ ٢١
21. And, when the Qur’an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٢
22. Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ٢٣
23. And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢٤
24. So give them tidings of a painful doom,
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ ٢٥
25. Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.
